Job Description:
Position Summary

The Lead Quality Technician’s primary role is to perform all the required quality related duties within the Plant QC Lab. The Lead Quality Technician is under direct supervision of the Quality Coordinator, working as a satellite with the corporate Quality Team, and working closely with the Pre- and Post- Autoclave Managers.

The incumbent will perform day to day testing and data recording operations and will be introduced to various analytical and physical instruments, testing methods, specimen preparation techniques, and technical reporting using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.

Additionally, the incumbent will have the opportunity to work with site Development Scientists, Engineers & R&D Project Teams, to assist them in completing their testing in a timely manner and ensure that tests are done so according to prescribed manual specifications.

Education/Experience

Demonstrated experience in science and working in a laboratory environment

Associates Degree or higher required

Quantitative Dimensions

The Laboratory Test Technician will prepare specimens and perform tests that are deemed to require minimal supervision. The incumbent will not be required to interpret data or write technical reports but he/she may be required to summarize preparation procedures, tests performed along with corresponding results in an organized and concise written manner for utilization within the lab. Work is to be completed by the specified time deadlines, results are reliable and dependable, and reports are well organized.

Position Requirements

- Interest in performing repeated tasks in a laboratory
- Computer literacy with basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail orientated and enjoys ensuring accuracy with regards to measurements and observations (weight, length, temperature, texture)
- Works well alone and in a team environment. Has a track record of effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to follow directions

Work Environment
The work environment will be conducted in a manufacturing environment and operators will encounter temperatures ranging from 40? to 110? around equipment. Occasionally walk on slippery surfaces up and down different levels of work platform. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud and requires for the operators to properly wear all required PPE. The fiber cement process is a wet process that may cause you to be exposed to process water or process material at any given time during your working shift. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/dusty conditions. The environment may require the use of extra personal protective equipment to help reduce becoming in contact with process water and process debris.
