Job Title: Equipment Specialist II
Requisition Number: R&D-3735
Interest Category: Research and Development
Hourly/Salary: Salary
City: Fontana
State: California
Country: United States
Shift: Days
Job Description:
R&D Equipment Specialist
Situation
R&D has an increasing number of projects that are using mechanical and electrical resources to construct equipment for pilot testing, laboratory work, and plant trials. This results in the necessity of hiring outside labor on contract at considerable cost or the utilization of engineers for fabrication work.
As R&D has grown our operations have become more complex as has the equipment we use. Maintenance of that equipment has required significant time investment on the part of engineers and scientists as well as the use of contract labor.
There is a significant opportunity for cost savings and improvement in efficiency through internalizing this work and assigning it internal staff. Contract labor costs can be reduced, equipment can be kept in better working order, engineers and scientists can be freed to pursue design and experimental work.
An assignment of Equipment Specialist has been created to assist with these issues.
Assignment Description
Equipment Specialist’s primary responsibility is to coordinate and set up mechanical and electrical work within R&D
Secondary responsibilities will include laboratory work, facilities maintenance, and trial support for all R&D project teams as appropriate.
This is a full-time position. It is a salaried position with the responsibilities associated with typical JHBP policies on work hours.
The position will reside in Fontana. Some travel may be required occasionally but the primary duties of the position will be local.
Goals:
Improve safety of R&D facilities by having trained people accountable for monitoring all fabrication projects and equipment maintenance.
Improve communication between R&D teams on equipment capabilities and availability.
More up time on all equipment by improving maintenance schedules
Reduced cost of equipment fabrication
Freeing up scientists and engineers to perform experiments and design
Uniformity of practice when planning & executing equipment design and fabrication
Improved tool and inventory maintenance in the Warehouse area
Additional support for experimental work and trials
Personal development of person holding assignment
