Job Description:
R&D Equipment Specialist

Situation

 R&D has an increasing number of projects that are using mechanical and electrical resources to construct equipment for pilot testing, laboratory work, and plant trials. This results in the necessity of hiring outside labor on contract at considerable cost or the utilization of engineers for fabrication work.

 As R&D has grown our operations have become more complex as has the equipment we use. Maintenance of that equipment has required significant time investment on the part of engineers and scientists as well as the use of contract labor.

 There is a significant opportunity for cost savings and improvement in efficiency through internalizing this work and assigning it internal staff. Contract labor costs can be reduced, equipment can be kept in better working order, engineers and scientists can be freed to pursue design and experimental work.

An assignment of Equipment Specialist has been created to assist with these issues.
