ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The coating process engineer will be responsible for the coating process design and optimization, equipment specification and commissioning in manufacturing of our fiber cement products. The process engineer works safely and efficiently to execute the coating related projects for R&D and factories to implement new coating solutions and processes and improve the coating processes and equipment. This position requires knowledge and hands-on experiences in process design, PLC programming, and process automation. Knowledge in various coaters, curing equipment and methods, and water-based coating performances is a plus.

This position will be based at our R&D facility in Fontana, CA. and will require domestic travel up to 40%



Responsibilities:

*
Participate in process design, equipment specification and product & process qualification

*
Setup coating pilot lines in R&D and scale up to the manufacturing plants

*
Manage coating related capital projects

*
Guide the new coating process construction and implementation by working with internal construction engineering teams and contractors

*
Interact with the equipment vendors, manufacturing plants and other project teams during the process design, construction and commissioning

*
Hands-on participation in the coating process installation, startup and fine-tuning

*
Collect and analyze the data from experiments and factory trials

*
Prepare the standard operation procedure (SOP) for new and existing coating process and/or equipment and train the operators

*
Provide regular project update to the management

*
Communicate with plant management, engineers, safety personnel and regulatory agents on the new coating process, formulation or equipment

*
Hands-on (not a desk) position in R&D center and in manufacture environments

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES :

*
Strong understanding and experience in manufacture process design, PLC programming & industrial process modifications
*
Demonstrated leadership skill needed to succeed in a fast-pace and cross-functional team environment

*
Demonstrated ability to specify and select process and equipment; understanding in coating application principles, process design & improvements

*
Experience in experimental design, coating quality control testing, process and instrumentation design

*
Experience with proposal writing, reporting and presenting

*
Must have an excellent written and verbal communication skill to interface with external vendors, plant engineers and operators, management, and R&D project teams.

Education/Experience:

*
2- 8 years of the experience in process design, PLC programming, equipment manufacturing and capital project management; and

*
Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial or coating engineering or other related fields.
